NYSC mobilises 1,188 corps members in Oyo

The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), in Oyo State, on Monday declared that it has registered no fewer than one thousand, one hundred and eighty eight (1,188) prospective corps members for the 2019 BATCH ‘C’ (Stream 2) orientation course.

State Coordinator of NYSC, Eniola Ambekemo, made this declaration while speaking during the Official Opening/Swearing in ceremony for the 2019 BATCH ‘C’ (Stream 2) corps members deployed to the state.

At the swearing-in ceremony held at the NYSC Permanent Secretariat in Iseyin were the State Governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Seun Fakorede, Permanent Secretary in the ministry Mr. O. S. Oyadeyi, and representatives of security chiefs in the state.

Ambekemo in her welcome address noted that “NYSC in the state has registered a total of 1,188 prospective corps members comprising of 487 males and 701 females”.

While congratulating them on the new feat, Ambekemo employed the corps members to be disciplined and law abiding throughout the course of their service year.

Shs encouraged them to be good ambassador of the NYSC scheme.

She further enjoined the corps members to make good use of the opportunities made available to them during their service year.

Makinde in his address described the NYSC scheme as the future and hope of Nigeria

He admonished the newly sworn-in corps members to equip themselves with the right values to ensure a brighter, progressive future of the country.

“I want to admonish you to see your call to service as a call to sacrifice for the peace and unity of the country.

“Though many of you may find yourselves in a totally new environment, it should be seen as an avenue to make new friends and break new grounds in your host communities,” he said.

The governor commended the NYSC scheme for bringing the nation’s youths into the same fold, encouraging and fostering unity in the country.

He further pledged that Oyo State will continue to support the scheme by providing a conducive environment for its operations.
